MISS MID : MUET PREPARATION [LISTENING] ~~~~ PART ONE


This just humble tips that I initially wanna share with my lovely sister and her friends. (for convenience , I will refer my sister and her friends as my students from now and onward). This slides I re share as a reference for them and initially taken from my slides when I did some explanation to them in my class. The tips in the slides were summary for what I had experienced and also from some latest input that I got from the expert. For a record, I'm not a teacher because I don't have any certificate but I just had my experiences as a Band 4 scorer in MUET. In addition, the tips I gathered for my students where most of them did not have a proper English education and I try my best to share tips that easily to understand and follow. 

Because I'm afraid that some of my students did not understand the slides, I will try to explain in bilingual for their sake. 


I'm pretty sure that most of my students did not watch this kind of drama because I did not get any response when I show them this slide. Yeah, how silly I am. They are so called 'pondok' and 'arab' students. Why in earth that they will stumble with this kind of drama ? It shows how innocence they are. 


Translation : Saya sentiasa mengingatkan diri saya sendiri bahwa; 
Tidak akan ada satu pun apa yang saya katakan hari ini akan mengajar saya.
Oleh itu, sekiranya saya ingin belajar,
saya mesti melakukannya dengan mendengar. 

The funny part is when I show this slide and I asked them; Who is Larry King ? There were silly answer I heard; He is my grandfather. I also make some silly mistake here. I don't know whether I'm so high with the hot weather or simply forgotten due some error in my medulla oblongata. I had mistaken Larry King with Martin Luther King, Jr and proudly explained to them. OMG. 
So, for my students, please click the name if you wanna know about the person. 


Here, some funny reaction I got. When the guys see Emma Watson, they "istighfar" loudly with their silly faces. I'm kinda wondering actually whether they know or not about this great actress. 


Listening is the first component or paper in MUET. Detail explanations for this paper can be obtain here. The texts in listening test will be playing twice.

Translation : Berfikirlah mendengar seperti satu bentuk meditasi. 
Kosongkan minda dan beri tumpuan sepenunhnya pada pendengaran.

I stumble here when they ask me what it is meditation. I can't find the best way to define it in Bahasa. Meditation is directly translate as "meditasi" in Bahasa. Meditation if refer to Wiki " adalah satu latihan diamana individu melatih minda atau untuk menjadi satu dengan minda. Tujuan utama meditasi adalah untuk mendapatkan ketenangan. Dan sebagai seorang Muslim, keadaan meditasi boleh disamakan dengan keadaan minda dan fikiran kita semasa ingin menunaikan Solah. Lapangkan pemikiran daripada memikirkan hal duniawi dan menumpukan perhatian sepenuhnya pada setiap lafaz ayat dalam solah dan perbuatan dalam solah untuk mengingati ALLAH pemilik segalanya. 


Here, some important actions need to be taken when enter the examination hall. Anda akan diberi masa selama dua minit untuk meneliti kertas soalan. Semasa dua minit itu, baca soalan dengan cermat dan laju untuk mendapatkan gambaran kasar tentang teks yang akan dibaca. If possible, highlight main idea sebagai langkah berja-jaga agar tidak terlepas point. Ini juga akan membantu semasa proses pendengaran. Telinga akan menjadi peka terhadap perkataan atau informasi yang ingin dicari. 


PERINGATAN : DENGAR SAJA AUDIO DIMAINKAN , SILA ANGKAT TANGAN JIKA AUDIo YAN DIMAINKAN TIDAK BERAPA JELAS. DAN JIKA ADA SEBARANG GANGGUAN BUNYI SEPERTI BUNYI MESIN RUMPUT ATAU BUNYI KETAWA DAN BERSEMBANG, SILA ANGKAT TANGAN DAN BERITAHU PADA PEMERIKSA.

For the first time, cari perkataan yang sama di dalam teks. Cari informasi yang hilang. Gunakan pensil dan tulis semua jawapan yang berkemungkinan. 

Jangan terpengaruh dengan accent yang ada pada audio. Jika boleh, tahan gelak dan fokus pada perkataan bukan gaya atau suara percakapan. Ignore the accent because it will affect your focus. 


Give extra attention when you heard the transitional words. Usually, after this word, there will be some important information. Jika boleh, HAFAL SENARAI TRANSITIONAL WORDS. 
Ini akan membantu untuk fokus pada perkataan yang sepatutnya.  


Jangan panik jika tidak dapat mencari jawapan atau perkataan yang digunakan sangat sukar didengar. Kadangkala, teks yang dimainkan akan menggunakan 'Jargon' yang jarang digunakan dalam kehidupan seharian." Jargon" adalah perkataan khusus yang digunakan dalam sesuati bidang. As an example, engineering term or financial term.
Lapangkan fikiran dan beri perhatian untuk mendengar teks yang selanjutnya. Setiap teks dimainkan mempunyai tahap kesukaran yang berbeza. Dan jangan lupa anda mempunyai peluang kedua untuk mendengar semula teks.

teringat teguran seorang teman di cafe waktu makan tengah hari : untunglah kau yerk dikelilingi lelaki-lelaki MALAYA hensem2 doh kawan2 kau (tak boleh puji lebih2, kalau ada yang membaca, nanti kembang setaman) dan aku hanya mampu tersenyum jujur ada rasa bangga hehehehehe hakikatnya, payah sebenarnya menjadi bunga sekuntum dalam taman penuh kumbang segalanya, rasa tak tentu jujur, walau hampir empat tahun berkenalan kadangkala, ada rasa akward ada banyak sebab dan keadaan  kenapa aku katakan payah menjadi bunga sekuntum ni #case pertama kalau nak poteng kelas memang tinggal harapanlah memang jelas terang dan nyta nampak sangat  kalau aku tak datang kelas so, tak boleh selalu sangat pontenglah #case kedua aku tak faham dan still tak tahu apa sebenarnya anggapan diorang  (especially cozmate melayu ) dekat aku diorang anggap aku kawan atau sometimes aku rasa diorang anggap aku macam burden palin...

SAYA BANGGA NAMA SAYA HAMIDAH !

Coz dah tak berapa betul kepala plus with mata yang tak reti nak tutup nih... mendorong aku untuk buat satu kerja yang boleh dikategorikan tak adanya faedah tapi sebab niat nak sangat mencuba.. so aku dengan bangga dan ragu mengKLIK cik Google and search for HAMIDAH.. and seriously terkejut dengan penemuan aku nih... tapi mulut bertambah senyum.. coz x expect akan found something new.... kelakar tak kelakarlah tapi memang menyejukkan hati dan meriangkan jiwa..heheheheheheh.. The reason adalah kerana I found out that my name which is HAMIDAH also was a name of one city.. betul ker fakta nih..ataupun auta.. jumpa kat WIKIPEDIA kot.... almost 100% right xcept ader someone else try autakan fakta.. itu hamba tolak ketepilah....kat bawah aderlah further explanation but simple...
